Image Generation Extension 2025.901.800.0

The Image Generation Extension adds locally hosted AI models to Windows, enabling Microsoft Paint and Photos to produce images from natural-language prompts and hand-drawn sketches. By integrating generation tools into familiar editors, it aims to streamline the creation process while keeping data on the user’s machine.

• Core capability: generate images from text descriptions and sketches using models that run on the local PC.
• Application integration: integration with Paint and Photos places generation and editing within existing workflows, reducing context switching.
• Privacy and performance: local execution avoids cloud transfers but increases demands on CPU/GPU and storage; responsiveness and throughput depend on system hardware.
• Usability: simple prompt-and-sketch inputs support iterative adjustments and quick prototyping within familiar interfaces.
• Practical limits: output fidelity and controllability reflect model capabilities and available resources; users may encounter artifacts or processing delays on lower-end machines.
